Dehradun. Uttarakhand Skill Development Mission (UKSDM) under the aegis of Dept. of Skill Development & Employment, Govt. of Uttarakhand conducted the state skills competition-2021 across 16 identified skills at Graphic Era University on the occasion of World Tourism Day.
State Skills Competition-2021 is part of the larger India Skills competition facilitated by National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) under the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (Govt. of India). The finalists of the state skills competition will proceed to the regional and national competitions and if selected, will have an opportunity to represent India in the World Skills Competition to be held in Shanghai (China) in 2022. The competition is aimed to celebrate the skills of young talent across the member countries who vie for excellence through these competitions.
The 3rd year students of Institute of Hotel Management Dehradun participated in the above skill competitions. Ms. Harshita Joshi won the Restaurant Service Competition; Ms. Mansi Madam won the Cookery Competition and Mr. Tapan Gautam won the Hotel Reception Competition. All the three students have qualified for the Zonal round to be held most probably at Chandigarh. They will be representing Uttarakhand State in the Zonal round. Dr. Jagdeep Khanna, Principal, IHM Dehradun appreciated the efforts for the faculty members and students for this commendable feat.
